How Trump is Successfully Making a Play for Black Voters

With his poll numbers steadily rising in many of the key battleground states, Donald Trump continued his outreach to black voters on Tuesday during a campaign rally in the North Carolina. “Four in 10 African American children live in poverty, including 45% of children under the age of 6,” he said. “Schools are failing. Jobs are leaving. Millions trapped in poverty… Vote for Donald Trump. I will fix it.”


According to Gallup, President Barack Obama received 95 percent of the black vote in 2012 after taking 99 percent of the vote against Senator John McCain (R-AZ) in 2008. Even without the allure of electing the first black president, then Senator John Kerry (D-MA) bested President George W. Bush with 93 percent of the black vote in 2004.
